Changes

Twenty Five
Boy have we had a lot of changes this past semester.  Besides getting married and moving to Arizona I turned the big 2-5.  Quarter of a century.  If that doesn’t make you feel old, I don’t know what will.
It was a lot of fun celebrating my birthday with the kids at school.  They were so sweet!

My French birthday cakes

The decorations- so cute!  I definitely felt very loved

Student Teaching
Student teaching was awesome.  I loved every minute of it.  It definitely helped that I had an incredible Cooperating Teacher who bent over backwards to help me be successful.  We also had a LOT of fun together; I felt like we could have been college roommates.

Graduation
I’ve graduated!  Boy does it feel good.  Five years later and I have a BA and a BS to my name.  Hurrah!
I had a lot of fun designing my announcements- here are two of them.

This one depicts the long journey to graduation.

I did it!

Graduation Present
So for graduation/life we bought a new fancy schmancy camera (a Nikon D3200 to be precise).  Leighton planned a cute date out on a scenic hike to try out the new camera!

Career
So, I would never wish applying for teaching jobs upon my worst enemy.  Applications are a beast.  I am so grateful to everyone who has been praying for me and looking out for jobs for me.  This past Friday I accepted a full-time job in the Tempe School District.  I’ll be working at McClintock High and Marcos de Niza High teaching level I and level II/III French.  I am so excited that I will be able to be teaching French!

The Family is of God

The Family is of God

I love being a family with Leighton.  This is one thing that the sealer emphasized, we are a family now, even if it is just the two of us!  We are having a lot of fun learning and growing together.  We just bought our first car together (hurray!).  Leighton is in love with it and he is so proud that it is ours.

This is a picture of what our car Albus looks like.

Not to mention, Leighton is a sweetheart.  He definitely spoils me, even when I am acting like a grumpy six-year-old who is tired and hungry.  And yes, that does happen.

We love teaching primary together.  We teach five adorable six-year-olds who are a bundle of smart energy.  I love that they LOVE to read and volunteer…if only my high school kids were like that!

My absolutely favorite song that we are singing in Primary is “The Family is of God.”  It is such a fun song to sing that is filled with so much truth!
Here are the lyrics:

The Family is of God
1. Our Father has a family. It’s me!
It’s you, all others too: we are His children.
He sent each one of us to earth, through birth,
To live and learn here in fam’lies.
2. A father’s place is to preside, provide,
To love and teach the gospel to his children.
A father leads in fam’ly prayer to share
Their love for Father in Heaven.
3. A mother’s purpose is to care, prepare,
To nurture and to strengthen all her children.
She teaches children to obey, to pray,
To love and serve in the fam’ly.
4. I’ll love and serve my family and be
A good example to each fam’ly member.
And when I am a mom or dad, so glad,
I’ll help my fam’ly remember:
[Chorus]
God gave us families to help us become what He wants us to be—
This is how He shares His love, for the fam’ly is of God.

Apartment Tour

It was about time we took you all on a tour of our home sweet home!
The kitchen, where all the yummy magic happens!

The balcony view- this is "our pool" by the way.

My favorite place to have lunch or dinner- our balcony!

The bed...who would have guessed that it is orange!

 Leighton's pondering nook.

The fireplace (not that you need one in Mesa....)

Chair Remodel

Leighton has been a sweetheart and helped me to make these chairs magical! We bought the chairs with the scary green vinyl for $5 a chair. The chevron material? One dollar! (We love brick-a-bracking) Some extra stuffing for five dollars and voila! Aren't they purty? Chairs before- see the old scary green? After- so chic!
Before- see the icky green vinyl that is probably older than Leighton?
After- ta da!
